Due to the cost of the use of space in modern-day production plants, the productivity per unit area of a manufacturing system has to be maximised, as the exhibitors from Imoberdorf point out (EMO Hannover 2017, 18- 23 September). A rotary transfer system that, depending on its size, combines several machining apparatuses is said to offer a major advantage in this respect. On an area covering only 9 square meters and with a height of 2.30 m, the imo-compact, for example, forms a complete and highly-productive rotary transfer system. It controls four to eight machining stations with up to 14 spindles per CNC. The parts feed is carried out optionally from bar stock, through load handling, robotically or manually. The exhibitors specify a reproducibility of plus/minus 0.003 mm, which reportedly makes the unit one of the most precise rotary transfer machines in the world. The company says it combines a wide range of work stages in its machine, therefore keeping the working areas free for the manufacture of other components. A so-called breathing production can thus be developed to carry out an expansion of capacity or fabricate other new products within the same hall space.

At the centre of each rotary transfer system manufactured by Imoberdorf are the needs of the customer. They dictate the required parameters with regard to precision, flexibility and productivity, everything else is handled by Imoberdorf.

The company’s expertise includes all steps from the initial concept, through implementation, up to construction and commissioning of your rotary transfer system – a complete solution from a single source.
