B Thiagarajan of Blue Star elected Deputy Chairman. Sunil Mathur takes over from Sanjiv Bajaj MD and CEO, Bajaj Finserv Ltd.

Mumbai, March 2020 – Sunil Mathur, Managing Director & CEO, Siemens Limited has been elected as the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Western Region for the year 2020-21 while B Thiagarajan, Managing Director, Blue Star Limited has been elected as the Deputy Chairman for the year 2020-21. Sunil Mathur takes over from Sanjiv Bajaj MD and CEO, Bajaj Finserv Ltd. Their names were announced at the first meeting of the reconstituted Western Regional Council held in Mumbai.

Sunil Mathur is responsible for Siemens in South Asia represented mainly by Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal & Bhutan as also Siemens Group Companies in India. He is currently a Member of the Global Leadership Team of Siemens. He has wide experience of integrating companies, creating Joint Ventures, M&A and turning around non performing businesses in an International environment. He has worked in Germany, United Kingdom and the United States. Mathur is on the National Council of the CII and Chairman of the CII Smart Manufacturing Council and was Deputy Chairman of CII Western Region (2019-20). He is Past President of Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and Bombay Chamber of Commerce.

B Thiagarajan is Managing Director, Blue Star Ltd. and is a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics from Madurai University. He has also completed the Senior Executive Program of London Business School. He has around four decades of experience, having worked for reputed companies such as Larsen & Toubro Ltd, BPL Systems Ltd and Voltas Ltd, prior to joining Blue Star in 1998.

He has handled various assignments in the Service business, Corporate Communications & Marketing and Corporate Affairs & Planning before he was promoted as President – AC&R Products Group in 2009. He was appointed as Joint Managing Director in 2016 and took charge as Managing Director in 2019. He currently oversees Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Service Operations pertaining to the Products & Projects Businesses; Manufacturing and R&D; Corporate Communications; Public Relations and Corporate Marketing Services.
